Boise PD changing some of its hiring requirements for new recruits

The Boise Police Department is loosening requirements for new hires.

Applicants will no longer need to have 60 college credits before applying.

"It's really an acknowledgment and recognition of the fact that a complete person isn't necessarily made up just from a formal education," said Deputy Chief Tammany Brooks. "What we're looking at is their content of character and some who has strong moral and ethical values. Those are the people who we are looking forward to training to be the type of police officer that we're looking for in the city of Boise."

There are still other minimum requirements that must be met if you want to join the police force in lieu of college credits. They're looking for three years of full-time employment of relevant life experience. If hired, the rookie would need to get those 60 college credits within five years.
