The protagonist of To Not Die, Dajun, has been left alone by his family. Dajun was bullied and abused frequently while he was a student at his school. Dajun’s frustration and suffering push him to the brink of despair, and he begins to consider suicide.

He comes to the conclusion, however, that he is not worthy of death. Those who had pushed him to despair were the ones who should have been eliminated. He had to learn to survive on the streets after an incident with his bullies.

Dajun makes the tough choice to stay alive so that he can one day get even with those who picked on him. He fortifies himself to take revenge on the bullies but ultimately learns that they are not his first priority. Over time, he gets involved in increasingly violent gang battles.

Recap of the Previous Chapter

Kim Eundong, the Dajun faction’s youngest member, emerges from the building to meet Dajun and Dogyeom at the beginning of the chapter. Dajun and Dogyeom had recently completed a successful operation against the Myeong Gwan faction’s gang.

After the hotel owner was frightened by an ambush by the Myeong Gwan faction, they were forced to find new lodgings. Dajun dealt with the Myeong Gwan faction and liberated the females who had been forced into prostitution by the group. The girls expressed gratitude to Dajun for rescuing them, and Dajun afterward cautioned them against joining criminal organizations.

Revenge?

Dajun showed the group’s criminal records as a threat. Therefore, if they cared about their freedom, they would be wise to keep quiet and leave town.

Dajun reached out to Shin Wooseong, the person on whom he had set his sights. Shin explains that he has finished his business in Korea and is preparing to leave, so if Dajun intends to kill him, he had better go to the Hangil family’s hideout. Dajun, fuming, warned him that the only way he would be able to leave Korea alive was if he were killed.

Four Kings

Dajun needed the assistance of the 4 Kings, a group on par in strength with Haegwang’s army, in order to take them on. To put an end to Haegwang once and for all, Dajun plans to interrupt their “exchange meeting” and join forces with them. At Majong Dong, the Four Kings met. Two of the four kings got into an argument during a card game, and Dajun intervened.
