It seems WWE Creative engines were running on full steam as they delivered a fantastic first week of 2024. A lot unfolded on SmackDown: New Year’s Revolution, however, the focus here remains on the unaired show after the main event that left fans wanting for more. Despite the ending of Live Telecast, it seems there was more to the night.
As can be seen, Roman Reigns was elated after laying waste to the competitors who were fighting for a shot at his title. Nick Aldis can also be spotted leaving an annoyed Wiseman, Paul Heyman. As the Tribal Chief retraced his steps, he seemed to be cutting another one of his iconic promos which might air later.
Additionally, there were some dark matches like Bianca Belair against Chelsea Green and the Eradicator, Rhea Ripley against Ivy Nile. Despite her sly tactics, the Hot Mess couldn’t overcome the EST of WWE. On the other hand, Rhea Ripley seemed to have replayed the victorious outcome of her previous World Heavyweight Title defense on Raw.
Lastly, fans witnessed a reenactment of David vs Goliath as the Scottish Warrior collided with the One and Only, Ricochet. Despite his nimble and calculating offense, the claymore turned the tides in the favor of Drew McIntyre. Additionally, fans witnessed both McIntyre and Ricochet cutting off a promo to give the fans a fine send-off.
The Scottish Warrior has been one of the fan-favorites in WWE. He cemented his legacy when he carried the Stamford-based company during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, his recent booking has been seemingly disappointing for his fans.
With his contract coming close to expiration, uncertainty looms around his future in the company. As a result of his conflicting emotions, McIntyre got emotional as he wrestled a dark match after SmackDown.
Recently, Mike Johnson spoke on PWInsider’s Q&A Session. He talked about how there have been no reports of a new contract for McIntyre in WWE. In a way, Johnson hinted that both the parties are still at an impasse. Drew McIntyre has been vocal about how he would like to explore all the possibilities before going ahead with a decision. While his fans find it unlikely for the Scottish Warrior to leave the WWE Regime headed by Triple H, one cannot rule out his history of making “broken dreams.”
The former WWE Champion faced the breathtaking highflyer Ricochet in a dark match after SmackDown. Ricochet even got endorsed by McIntyre after the match. It was a unique gesture from McIntyre as he recently sported a heel demeanor. Time will tell whether his change of attitude bore other intentions or was simply a goodwill gesture.
